Spyros Argeros Chooses Columbia: A Strategic Move for Swimming and Academic Future

Spyros Argeros, a New York City native, has announced his commitment to continue his academic and athletic career at Columbia University starting in fall 2027. He swims for Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics and attends Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School. At Summer Juniors, Argeros finaled in the 200 breast with 2:18.93, added personal bests in the 100 breast (1:04.70) and 200 IM (2:10.42). Earlier in the spring season, he won the 200 breast at Sectionals in a lifetime-best 1:57.76 and posted a 55.55 in the 100 breast. Columbia men finished fourth at the 2026 Ivy League Championships. Argeros's best 200 breast time sits close to the A-final cut of 1:56.66, suggesting he can make an immediate conference impact. He is the first public commitment in Columbia's class of 2031.
