The 2026 Mùa Vàng Y Tí Trail Run (September 6) witnessed one of the memorable moments in the trail running content. Overcoming the steep uphill paths, Van Trang (nickname Jang Doll) has excellently won the top 1 female 42km category. More noteworthy, this mother of 4 children born in 2026 also proudly took the top 2 position in the overall standings, surpassing almost all the male runners (only losing to 1 person) when crossing the finish line with a time of 4 hours 26 minutes.
However, besides the proud championship on the top of Lảo Thẩn at an altitude of 2,860 meters above sea level, she also pulled along a wave of discussion with her very fair response to some gossips and negative comments about her appearance from a segment of netizens.
The 42km trail path at Y Tí (Lào Cai) has a total accumulated elevation of over 1,300m. The steep terrain and high altitude thin air are always a nightmare for any runner.
Talking about the moment of exhaustion to conquer the mountain peak, Van Trang shared with the reporter: "The 42km category has some uphill sections that make the body almost run out of energy. At that time, I only focused on each section of the road ahead, maintaining breathing rhythm, distributing energy and replenishing nutrients at the right time. I always remind myself: 'Stay calm, as long as there is strength, there is still hope'. This endurance comes from regularity and discipline. In addition to running, I combine gym, swimming and various supplementary exercises to accumulate physical strength every day".
Running with feet instead of running with the mouth of the people!
Right after stepping down from the podium, Van Trang's image was unexpectedly taken to some running groups to discuss in a disrespectful way. Instead of honoring the professional record, the crowd focused on her "natural big breasts" under the tight sports clothes, even using the phrase "carrying two grapefruit while running" to mock her.
Not choosing to stay silent, the female runner immediately retaliated directly and fiercely: "I'm telling the truth, who can say I carry two grapefruit running 42km or 55km mountain roads! I run with my feet, not with my appearance to carry me up to these groups to talk about this talk about that! People see the pressure, I see that as the 'vitamin C supplement' for the spirit. The important thing is that I still arrived at the destination, still healthy and happy. As for judging, just judge, I run with my own feet, I don't run with the mouth of the people!".
The runner from Hà Nội straightly expressed the wish that the crowd should have a more civilized view of the 'sporty girls': "Female athletes should be recognized first of all by effort and achievement. Appearance is each person's own story, while achievement is the result of years of training. When looking at a girl on the running path, I hope everyone sees a person who is striving to conquer their own limits".
She declared: "Running with feet, not running with the mouth of the people!"
Facing the question of whether to wear more modest or looser clothing to avoid prying eyes, the champion of Y Tí resolutely said: "Sports clothing must first be comfortable and safe. If I change myself only because of fear of comments, perhaps I will always have to live under the gaze of others. I choose to focus on the running path and my own goals. Marathon taught me that not always I run in perfect conditions. Life is the same. Compliments make me happy, criticism helps me reflect, while malicious words, I learn to ignore".
The glory at Lảo Thẩn is over, the next goal of the mother of 4 is to conquer the more intense Ultra Trail category in the upcoming VMM 70km race and at the end of the year is the 100km content.
"Let achievements speak. I don't need to become the version that others want to see. Just becoming a better version of myself every day is enough", Van Trang expressed determination for the next journey.
